What! Don't they have generators and floodlights set up.
Should I make the suggestion?

Don't be silly...the Ministry of Defence would never allow it...would interfere with night flying ops...as you can see...runway finishes golf course begins.
Oh and the reason I can hear them is that I live just to the right of the yellow highlighted 'T' junction.

Thanks JAS. Just had a look on Google Earth, and looks like a nice part of the world, except for the lovely North sea breezes...

So what house is yours

haha...my house is.....yeh right...right-hand side of the map is plenty of info.

It is a lovely golf course...was popular with Prince Andrew whenever he visitied Annes kids at Gordonstoun School which is also nearby.

The beach is great, all sand and the water surprisingly warm (obviously not as warm as SA) thanks to the gulf stream....bloody Tornado fighter/bombers make it very noisey though (wish it was gliders   )

One thing about living up here...you're never far from a golf course (there's another about 4 miles up the road at Hopeman) or a distillery

Back in the 60/70's Dad played a lot of amatuer comps with me earning pocket money as caddy but trying to teach me to play was hopeless. I have almost no hand/eye co-ordination so can't aim a shot or judge distance. Trust me I wouldn't get close to being allowed to join them

1. Brushing your teeth in the morning and a filling falls out.

2. Not being able to do anything about it 'coz you've got a flight to Melbourne in 2 hours.

3. The coffee machine in the QANTAS club is busted

4. The plane which was to carry you to Melbourne couldn't land due to heavy fog and has returned to Melbourne.

5. Your 9 AM flight is thus delayed until the afternoon at the earliest. Possibly later.

Stuck in the airport with a missing filling and questionable coffee. I feel that this is the high point of the day, and it will begin a slow downhill slide from this point. :(

Having put in a long day looking after kids etc, I climb onto the couch with a nice glass of Coopers' Stout.

The glass is the sort with a handle; holds a bit less than a full stubby of beer. I've had it for years. Was given to me as a gift from a sister who once worked at the ill-fated LoneStar steakhouse; it was marked with a LoneStar logo.

I take a couple of sips, and sit there reclining in the sofa..... when without warning the arse falls off the glass. My lap is promptly filled with Coopers' Stout, which proceeds to ooze into my cods and also into the upholstery.

The shitful things here are manifold:

1. That a glass showing no signs of wear, having faithfully served me for years, should simply drop the bottom out of itself without any provocation whatsoever.

2. That I happen to be drinking Stout, not some other beer, when the glass gives way. Stout will stain the upholstery; lager would not have done so.

3. That I cut myself on a glass splinter when cleaning up the resulting mess.

4. So did the missus.

5. That I wasted more than half a glass of Stout.

6. That my jeans are now in the wash, and I have no clean pairs for the morrow.

7. That the sofa cushions are now sodden, having been sponged off, and are drying in front of the heater - meaning I'm reclining on the carpet to type this peeve.

There are probably more, but that will suffice to vent my spleen.
