Have lost weight in the past eat healthy no more junk food for me .The only junk food I eat is snags off the barbie at the footy. And I have got a reputation at work as being a snob because I will not eat Pizza that the company buys and pays for at stocktake time.Hell I wont eat birthday cake people bring in !!
All this was in effort to get my weight down fix my heart up(which I have done) get my blood pressure down etc.
This to go along with all the medications I take a day including Fish oil and calcium. I am allergic to Milk products and will throw up at the thought of eating fish (yes I know I am addicted to catching them)or drinking milk.Even stopped myself eating cheese at one stage I was addicted to eating cheese .Have had arguements about not eating spuds with my Mother inlaw cant eat them to hi in GI.
So I thought today would be a good day to go to the doc for my prescriptions.I had run out of one and it was easier than stoping after work .Different doctor
My mistake .You weigh to much got him to tell me I should be 85 kilos(yes I am alot bigger than that).you eat to much I informed him I eat much less than I used to .No you eat to much carbs eat more meat.I was perplexed I said I have gone to just eating Sultana Bran for breakfast no milk no sugar .that set him off dont eat rice bread eat more meat and eat tuna .Why dont u eat tuna beacuse I will throw up before I eat it !!!!
And yes this was after he took my BP which was up up up .
So all my no more eating junk food no spuds eating grain bread chicken etc has been to no avail.
I know have to eat more meat or protein .
And then u watch my cholesteral count go up up up if I do .For breakfast he said I should eat bacon and poached eggs yeah right at 5.15 in the morning I am going to cook bacon and eggs!!!
Bloody doctors they can do nothing about my arthritis but hell just turn anorexic and everything will be ok !!!!!!!
Unfortunately, GPs can't possibly know everything about every field, and the good ones know this, and know when to refer - in this case perhaps to a good Dietician if it hasn't been done already.
This used to be funded under Care Plans, but I don't know whether these were some of those Kev07 has scrapped recently.
Others get sucked into fads about diets like everyone else. [This guy may have read the CSIRO diet recently.] There are advocates, even among the professionals in the journals, for each type diet and if you consult several GPs, or several Dieticians, you are likely to get some variance in opinion about which way to go. There is no one diet method
proven to be right for all.
Cholesterol is another similar issue. Up till about 10 years ago no Cardiologist would eat eggs, because they contain a lot of cholesterol. The latest studies suggest eating eggs
lowers your cholesterol level! "Acceptable" cholesterol levels have dropped in the last few years since cholesterol lowering drugs have been on the market, and I think pharmaceutical company lobbying is part of the reason - they work to convince doctors cholesterol levels should be lower than those that were once considered "normal".
Medicare contributes. It won't fund a cholesterol level splitting the results into high density lipids and low density lipids unless the total cholesterol is high - yet the ratio if HDL to LDL is what matters - higher HDL is good - regardless of whether the total is high or low.
