Anna Bligh has been working her ass of and doing a great job. K. Rudd is doing what he can, carrying bags ect. helping people move their valuables ect. What is Julia doing? Easy, she flew in to Brisbane at the height of the floods to shake peoples hands and meet them at the emergancy centres. WTF? get in there and help people move or stay away! they dont need you in there looking to secure yourself some votes! Sorry Julia, poor effort!

I'm intrigued by the Wivenhoe Dam.

A few years ago I'm gathering it was empty.

Image

If it gets to 100% their is a possibility of it breaking which would wipe out everything downstream.. Brissy & Ipswitch.

It filled up in October and they slowly been letting it out 1 of the 4 gates at a time.

Then on Sunday they opened all 4 gates.
Pretty amazing footage...

Makes Kangaroo Creek look less impressive.

well off the gabba at the moment. Suncorp is closer to the west of CBD. Gabba is just south of the CBD and south of the river

Watching the channel 9 news chopper at the moment seeing the bunnings store at oxley with all the eskys that have come out of bunnings in the middle of the motorway floating. This motorway at this time of day is normally at gridlock. Not today. Not a car in sight

Makes you wonder how high the water would of reached in these floods if they hadn't of built the dam after the '74 floods

Perversely, this could somehow be the thing that turns around her fortunes in the polls ... I don't think anyone could have taken on the responsibility more personally then she has the past few days.

The floods are the greatest thing that could have happened to her (politically). The locals will be too stupid to recall her 3 years of mis-management prior to this and vote her in again on the basis of her "Flood Updates" on tv

The Coalition is a disunified unelectable rabble. Hence the three years of mismanagement alas.

Reports of FULL beer cans floating down Milton road just outside the 4X brewery in brisbane. I know this is not funny about this happening but this part is comical.

Without making it a political debate, i think all and sundry are doing a great job under very very difficult circumstances, I have heard a number of interviews with Campbell Newman and yes I agree he is doing a marvellous job but to start rating who is better than the other in these sort of circumstances I dont think is really warranted.

I just want to see these waters subside and then hopefully see Queensland rebuild to the great place it is, going to take a hell of a lot of work by hundreds of thousands of people over a long period of time to get it there but we are Australians and will band together to make it happen

Not certain which I'd drink first - the foul river water or the XXXX

I'm heading in to lend a hand tomorrow. Also to find a deserving type to give my very unused generator to.

roads into the CBD this morning are at gridlock. It seems everyone that has been off for the past few days has thought its all ok to go back to work today.

On this flooding. Can you imagine the amount of works for tradies coming up here in Brisbane. When houses are full of water upto the roof for days the walls would be all rotten. All the power points would be full of corrosion. Kitchens would be ruined. Phone lines and phone systems for companies would all need replacing. There is going to be alot of money made out of this event . God if your a tradie and want some work for the next few years, south east queensland is the place to be for the next few years.
