Teachers strikes!

They need to pick it up a bit, maybe strike out a week or maybe a month or maybe even a term!

People are slowly slowly starting to change from calling it soccer to football.

On Sports Tonight, they now call it "football".

I prefer football, soccer sounds amateurish.

I rate football, and to some extent the hybrid game.
There is only one "football" in Oz, and we should not give in and call it AFL.
Otherwise there is Soccer and Thugby, along with other minor sports...

I prefer soccer, because we already have a football here.

Just get rid of the football tag altogether. Call them Australian football, Association football, rugby or rugby league. It will stop the idiots trying to claim the football name when it is already in use here.

Agree, although you'll find that older fans of each code refer to 'their' game as football -as part of their upbringing.
Now with so much media coverage everywhere for national and international leagues, the younger generation will probably be indoctrinated into using current tags (eg AFL) for each sport.

Baking Rebel Raider in the Derby with 10 EW, watching it win, and collecting 20 percent of the trifecta div. Good punting. Thanks for the tip James Ezard.

Yes, people are doing what they are told. Football is the name of your local code. The yanks aren't silly enough to call Gridiron football just because Fox Sports in Sydney wants them to. Soccer might be the world game but only because dirt poor kids can kick a Goat's skull around for recreation in a Brazilian slum.

Wake me up when the real football comes back on.
