Yep, and SANFL reserves live from Adelaide Oval every Saturday.

that's not quite right, the reserves were on yes but it wasn't always the adelaide oval it was what the league match of the day was

(the safa was from the adelaide oval & perhaps that's what you meant ian ?)

I don't remember it that way (mind you this is nearly 30 years ago). The ressies I used to watch used to be from all grounds, and I remember watching SAFA televised (I'm sure) from Edwardstown or Flinders park at one point or another. Might be wrong there, but it certainly wasn't Adelaide oval.

Another thing - whatever happened to Rank Arena TV's? They just kept on going those old things. My next door neighbour had one as well and on the other side, they had this hulking bit of furniture which I'm sure was either a Kelvinator or Westinghouse TV.

Downtown - "the lights are much brighter there, you can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares...."

Le Rox

classrooms without airconditioning

bus passes (before we had multi-trips)

and this one is not far from going I believe, ..... the guy at the show who does the kids westpac farmyard up near the Leader St entrance. Got a feeling he is retiring but that guy has been an institution at the Show.

The Gasometer on Marion Rd (now the Council depot).

The Ice Arena - before the ski slope was built.

The West End hole-in-one competition on the banks of the Torrens (where the xmas light display goes up).
Steve Bradbury and Michael Milton. Aussie Legends.

The ski slope hasn't been there for quite a while, hence this topic should mention The Ice Arena - with the ski slope. I remember skiing there stoned once, gave up after half an hour only to view my mate from the bar come hurtling down the slope with no poles and taking out about 50 people in the lineup, Ive never laughed so hard!

I remember the bridge where the tram from Hawker St went over the railway line into North Adelaide at Bowden.
I don't know what year it was taken down to create yet another level crossing - some years after buses replaced the tram.

Does anyone remember the outdoor cinema down at Semaphore. It used to be near where the waterslide now is, next to the Palais.

It used to operate in the summer months, i think it disappeared around mid-80's ?

I remember that Eagle Bitter never took off due to a "brilliant" TV ad campaign invented by John Singleton that featured the phrase "a beer man's beer".
