Wow I'm staggered at that. KFC chips are the most limp, tasteless excuses for a chip of any of the junk food emporiums.

For a great chicken shop, and the best chips I can recall (beyond the Flinders Uni refectory circa 1991) - Golden Wishbone, Marion Rd, Marion.

First thing I do in transit to Oz is seek out the Burger King.
McDonalds is almost everywhere in Japan but Burger King is very rare, because the Japanese being little people have no use for a burger that they cannot finish. To find Burger King or Hungry Jacks in Japan you have to travel either to a U.S military base, which is basically a little peice of the U.S inserted into Japan, complete with big f****n yanks, or you can travel to Tokyo, I have heard it rumoured that a Burger King exists there.
I side step McDonalds and eat at MOS Burger. It is more expensive, it takes longer to prepare because it is made fresh, but it tastes a lot better and they make limited offer burgers which are sometimes about the size (if not bigger than) a regular Whopper.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I use to work for Buttercup at Forrestville about 12 years ago & the amount of fat & sugar that get put in to the Macca's buns was horrendous. PLUS, there was this white shit that we put in in very small doses (a flavour enhancer, I believe) & I had to wear a face mask, otherwise it would make my nose bleed. On the other hand, the Blue & White on O'Connell Street, North Adelaide make wicked hamburgers!

Ive been told from an impeccable source that they put a sugar or a substance
on thier rolls so when its tasted by the consumer it is addictive.

I enjoy Big Mac and the Whopper.
But the Advertising BLUFFAGE propoganded by Maccas defending themselves
at every opportunity, defending thier companies products, integrity and now they
are defending themselves on a website, is really pissing me off.

I will only eat the Whoppers in future on principal.

Both companies sell unhealthy MeALs, one wont admit it !

Bloody oath Mal! Many true words in that post. One of my biggest peeves is that massive corporations are legally able to spin massive amounts of bullshit to paint themselves in a fairer light. Anybody wishing to pull them up on it will only be heard by a minority compared to the masses exposed to the multi-million dollar bullshit machine which Mal so rightly observes reaches into every form of mass media there is!
For example there is the claim that 9 out of ten nutritionists recommend eating Maccas as part of a healthy, well balanced diet. In the movie "Super Size Me" they researched this "fact" and after calling hundreds of nutritionists they eventually found 9 that sort of thought it was okay. I guess Maccas must have interviewed all the nutritionists that work at the McDonalds institute of health research and STILL found one in ten that didn't recommend eating their own product on a regular basis. How else could they have arrived at the magical 9 out of 10 figure?

Therisingblues, some more Mcpropoganda.
This is from the pamphlet OUR FOOD[a simple guide]
This from the MAKE YOUR OWN MIND section :

" Our buns are low in sugar. In fact they have no more than 5%, which is similar
to the amount in the white bread rolls you would buy in a supermarket."

See how they refocus the attention to supermarkets white breads.

They also say they get thier chickens from Inghams and Steggles and say
" Thats right the same Ingham and Steggles you buy chicken from at the Supermaket"

OK THEY BUY THE CHICKEN FROM INGHAMS + STEGGLES but then what do they
do to the chickens before the consumers buy it ?
I got this info from Mcdonalds Nutrition Information website in 2004

CHICKEN PATTIE
-----------------------
chicken breast [min 60%]
cornflour
wheat flour
maize flour
vegetable oil
modified starch
sugar
soduim casienate
slt
mustard
raising agents : acid soduim diphosphate and soduim bicarbonate.
butter flavouring
cooked in our own vegetable oil

Give me a break, as I said they might buy the chooks from reputed firms
but its what they do to it after that counts.
PS minumum 60% chicken first ingredient

Mcbluff, Mcpropaganderists should not defend thier SUSPECT products.

Agree with you again Mal, especially your main point which is basically: the food is crap so why insist on saying it isn't?
I am unsure on that 5% sugar claim...I have also heard similar stories to what Centurion has told that the actual amount of sugar that goes into their buns is unbelievable. But what the hell I could say what I liked really and it would be just as plausible as what they write on their own website. I love it when independant investigators get into them and expose what really goes on.
P.S the story on their McNuggets is even more interesting...exactly what part of the chicken do they come from? Try bits of ground up bones, organs and the stuff that falls on the floor after everything else has possibly been made from the chicken. I think a similar process takes place when making dog food. Interesting that they actually specify 60% chicken BREAST when making the patties. One wonders, well what other part of the chicken could they possibly be using?...makes me think of "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and "the Perfectly Normal Beasts": If something is possibly too awful to think about give it a reassuring name..like "McNugget" or "Chicken Breast" ....they call these things euphemisms don't they? If you say it enough times people will believe it's true...it's chicken, it's chicken, it's chicken... (times 100).

Yeah but to be fair, a lot of the extra 'goodies' there would be part of the breadcrumbs/coating, not necessarily the 'chicken' itself.

Here's a shock - chicken flavoured chips don't actually have chicken in them! BBQ Shapes don't actually have BBQs in them either!
