The name “fusobacterium nechrophorum” will never escape me, that was the strain that got him, extremely rare.

Was there any suggestion as to how he managed to contract this?

Not in any great detail, plus I haven’t had the strength to go full steam ahead on it, there were 5 cases of meningitis at GCUH the 2nd week we were there.
It begins as an ear or sinus infection and goes from there, preliminary thoughts are the pool at the resort which he was staying at, regaining his health is the priority at this stage, I have so many questions to ask and things to follow up in the aftermath.

No they didn’t.
They had to get a specialist in infectious diseases to diagnose it, in 30 years in the business this was the 2nd time he’s come across this strain, he said Australia sees 4 cases a decade of it.

Cheers mate, they would be great, I’m attempting to fit going back to work this week so my life could be a fair juggling act, I’ll touch base once I’ve worked out a system that sees me cover all I need to do.

Work is ok for me to take more time off or work from the hospital but I think my head needs me to go in.
