I agree with this.
The PC vigilantes and those with a victim mentality are looking for slights under every rock - a type of witch hunt.
Real racism should be opposed but let's not whip up hysteria over every word that can be misinterpreted as a racist attack rather than just the inherent and directionless rudeness/crassness it usually is.
Eddie's remark would have attracted little attention had it not been for the "ape" remark a few days earlier.
Yes it was insensitive of him to not wake up to the possible misinterpretation in that context, but it doesn't make him racist.
And normally Adam Goode's high profile would have been ideal for
any promotional event.
(PS: I'm not an Eddie fan, or a Collingwood one.)
I was something of a fan of Adam Goodes as a player, but the recent behaviour has diminished him a little in my eyes.
He has come across as a bit "precious", and as a bit of an "ape" in the traditional sense - demonstrating less brain than brawn.
(I'll pre-empt the accusations of racism my comments may attract by simply saying I have friends of several nationalities, religions, and races.)
