Will the World End on the 21/12/12??

I heard that the theory is that because the Mayan calender ends on that date, thats when the world will end. But really its just like our calender, which ends on December 31st, and just starts again the next day. Apparently theres another Mayan calender that starts the day after this one finishes.

A guy at work talks about the other planet, Nibiru or Planet X. Theres dodgy Youtube videos claiming you can see it from Antartica. He's a "ufologist" or something, so I hear about this stuff pretty regularly. Im a massive skeptic. Theres no God, nothing supernatural, and nobody can predict when catastrophes are going to happen.

Mayans predicted that the first sign of the coming apocalypse would be that the poll function on SAFooty would stop working. It has begun...

Yep it will. Its why I broke up from the missus in April, as I wanted to spend the last 8 months of my life having fun! Certainly did that with 2 trips to Thailand plus more!
And I've had so much fun that if it doesn't end, I'll just spend every year pretending it's going to.

I reckon Port have just been going about their business for the last few years hoping it's going to end this year, if it doesn't they're in a big hole!

PS Bully, our sun wont be in the middle of the galaxy in at least the next trillion years so I don't think we have to worry about that!

I read about that too. I didn't quite understand it, but our sun will pass through the axis that scientists use to determine the dimensions of our galaxy or something like that. The axis passes through the center of the galaxy and goes off somewhere else.
I've read on a few websites that this has happened many times before and at least three times since humans have been walking the planet. So according to those websites at least it's something we've survived before. It's also no coincidence that the Mayans also measured the end of their calendar to that day as obviously it had some significance to them too.

That's what thought also, so I was a bit confused when I read the article on the net, I'd also seen it on TV and was equally confused then. I tried to google it just now and discovered a few NASA articles saying it's all hogwash anyway: apparently every year, around the solstice, the earth and sun line up with the approximate center of the galaxy.
