Correct, for most staff here. I have some certain advantage though through negotiations with my employer as well as being salaried I work more hours than what would be my normal working week almost every week, I do a bit of travel during the year so I get some time in lieu.

In short, of the 13 working days I have off this break I only lose 5 in annual leave. :D

i finish off at midnight x-mas eve and then work 2 days - wed 28th and then the 31st and then back into the normal routine as of jan 3rd.

worked thru x-mas past 8yrs or so and love it, especially working the public holidays $$$$$$$$$$ - no public holidays this year though

good thing about this year is plenty of home brew to drink and golf to be played

Just have the public holidays off as per usual. But i have some solace in the fact i have the 26-27th jan off for my bucks show, and from 1st-3rd feb (3 days off before my wedding as i just cbf working!) and 2 weeks off after that for my honeymoon.....holidays are just around the corner :)

I'm the reverse, as I've been retired since the end of April 2010, and I was hoping to pick up some relieving locum work over the Christmas break.
But the slow process of reactivating my medical registration via AHPRA prevented it.
What used to be a 20 minute process under the old Medical Board of SA now takes 2 months.

(There are jobs on offer now for February/March, but I'll be overseas in March.)

Our work break up is at 12 (lunch)on Thursday which is 2/3 through our day, so I have 3 and 2/3 days to go! Obviously there's 9days until Christmas and then there is just 12 until my holiday.

this is the busiest time of the year for my work, everyone wants carpets cleaned for Xmas parties and then the first couple of weeks of Jan for the post Xmas party cleans!

have done 55 hours this week and still tomorrow to work, then next week will be unrelenting as well! No winding down here... winter is for slowing down!!!

I thought this thread might've been a Molly Meldrum joke.
