I'd be making the milk crate's fielders, we always play if you hit anything on the full it's out, the bowler nominates how many runs they give each shot depending on where it ends up, spin only.
You don't want to be running for runs, that encourages an errant throw which will see your windows getting smashed more often.
We've always had a backyard pitch, I had a 30+metre long backyard in my old place so I had an almost full length pitch. I ended up trimming all the edges and excess santa anna from my mums footpath and driveway, transplanted it for my pitch as the rest of the lawn was cooch.

We got roll-out Kikuyu grass earlier this year. This is not ideal for a pitch I would imagine?

we use a soft rubber ball. its branded with the world cup 11 logo and i think it came from rebel sport. its heavier than a cricket ball, but softer and it spins a mile!

Kikuyu doesnt cut low and stay compact like Santa Anna. its just the fact its such a wide brimmed leaf compared to santa anna. id give it a go though, cut it down slowly, but regularly encouraging sideways growth!

Do you think I can drop some Santa Ana seed in amongst the kikuyu and blend it in so the missus doesn't notice?

The Aleem Dar never lies LBW and run out shouts! (for close appeals only, has to be agreed upon)
Bowlers get a free delivery at the stumps (has to bowl the same delivery they just did) and if it hits your OUT! if not then obviously NOT OUT!

Humps up and Flats up to decide who bats and bowls first!
Winner of each game picks the batting and bowling order for the next game.
For party play (more than 2 players) a cry of "shotgun batting/bowling" decides who bats/bowls first, next batter is decided by whoever gets the first out.
Can't go from bat to bowl (if there is more than 2 players)

With the Aleem Dar, does the bowling method have to be the same as the delivery which drew the appeal?

Hitting the back fence along the ground is 4
Hitting the back fence on the full is 6
Over the back fence is 6 and out
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Just put some cut outs of it amongst your kikuyu, it will take off at this time of year, plead ignorance, it's a better looking lawn anyway.

Santa Anna couch goes dormant during the winter, so no mowing is needed. Depending on traffic it can hold its green colour, just not the deep summer green. Spreading an iron based fertilizer just before Easter will help it hold its green colour also. Frost sends it yellow overnight!

Kikuyu can be used, need to mow it more often to keep it low though. There are also chemicals on the market that you can use to control the kikuyu in Santa anna aswell, and doesn't hurt the couch grass :D

Sometimes we'd use one litre (glass) Coke bottles.

If you hit them at all, on the ground or in the air...
