Tagging reminds me of a dog cocking it's leg or a tom cat spraying to mark their territory, either way it stinks!!

Good analogy for tagging. Dunno why it's called art. I've seen street art and I would like to see more grey walls brightened up by actual talented people, even a lot of stencils are brilliant. Tagging is just shitful and this kid was no Banksy.

A bit off topic, but does anyone know what all those faces with white background are all over Adelaide? There is one that is on the Data#3 building as you head towards the city near the Payneham Rd/Magill Rd intersection where it says "Good Morning Payneham". Also one on the bridge at Henley Beach Road, Mile End as you head towards the city. They're everywhere and I'm not sure why exactly - I guess it is Art, but is there any meaning behind it?

Saw a guy in Rundle Mall once painting sheets of Cardboard using just Aerosol cans to paint scenes of the Universe, absolutely brilliant art work, how people consider tags and so called Wildstyle Burners art is a joke. If they were actually any good it would be legal, yet most of what I see around is pathetic in terms of actual skill level and design.

Still it is a massive shame that a life was taken in this way and the fact that he likely died on his own and alone. Where were all his so called mates then?

It is actually legal, there is some professional graffite artist in Adelaide. There's no stopping someone that owns a building to go and spray paint it. So to say if it was any good it would be legal is stupid. You get a normal artist to go and paint a landscape on a police stations an se how long beforethere arrested. I don't agree with graffite but because you don't like it doesn't mean it art. Hey if someone can dip a paint brush in a tin of paint and splash it against a canvas I think you would call graffitie more art then that

CORRECTION: A picture that appeared in The Advertiser and on The Advertiser iPad app today was not of the Ryan Smith whose body was discovered yesterday.

It was of another Ryan Smith, also aged 17, a recognised artist from the southern suburbs. The Advertiser apologise to Ryan Smith and his family for the error.
