I now drive a different way, avoiding that section of road completely.

I would have made it entrance and exit, but one way. So in up the hill and out up the hill, no right turn.
Then lights at the other end of Helicon

Regardless, the best way isn't what they are doing, that's for sure.

Whilst we're on the subject, Murray street or whatever it is, in Gawler, needs to be blown up and started again.

Haha, I wish.
Love to think about that one though. There's so much involved - businesses/houses, city flow, non city flow, numbers of cars.

You'd have to realign a lot of roads to make it work - and that would probably still result in going under/over one way or another.

At least that's pretty much the only disaster, when you compare it to the rest of the worlds traffic issues!

Question with red light cameras at railway crossings.

Will they have amber lights at these crossings, or a hell of a long time before the camera starts flicking?

Otherwise this is nothing but blatant revenue raising as people will be getting pinged because they're going through on the red because they can't stop safely (either slam on the brakes and cause a multi car pile up or go through and cop a $300+ fine and 3 points).

Under normal traffic light conditions the camera must activate within 0.5 of a second of the Red light activating. Under the law entering a intersection under yellow is still an offense. I only know this as I have recently sought legal opinion to a incident involving myself. Needless to say the 'evidence' they used was very substandard and considering to identify an offense they rely on human inspection of the photograph and therefore a huge margin for error is possible

they may call it safety but it is another ''cash grab'' idea from a government in a downward spiral, if it were just for safety reasons every rail crossing should have boom gates & have them come down ealier than they do now......i also reckon the way they're going they'll be installing the cameras in everyone's driveways next & then we'll all get done for jay walking  ;)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

There seems to be a straightforward argument here.

If you're stupid enough to run a level crossing when the flashing lights or boom gates are in operation, then there's a reasonable chance you'll be obliterated by a train.

If you're lucky enough to not be hit by the train, then your reward will be a large fine and some demerit points.

and the problem is ...? :D

if you get hit by a train, you can get a new car with the insurance? Or, your family are rid of you once & for all & can get a life with the insurance money? just saying.

Noticed a new set of Red Light Cameras have gone in on the intersection of Brians Road and Grand Junction rd just by the new High School - it was brought up how that intersection would cope with the extra traffic, as it is its the B Double route and there is usually a large queue of B Doubles blocking the right lane waiting for several cycles of lights so that they can make the right turn. Don't see how the cameras are going to make it any safer though, more traffic and no upgrade of the intersection makes little sense as opposed to $$$ towards the oval upgrade perhaps?

Agree 100%, but there's that split second where you're about to cross as the flashing lights just start. Chances are the cameras are going to nab just as many of these people as people burning through the crossing before the boom gates start coming down.

With intersections with red light cameras, you have the amber light to give you sufficient time to a) go through the intersection if you can't stop safely or b) stop before the lights turn red. No such luxury at railway crossings unless they start using signals similar to the ones some fire stations use

Valid point, but common sense should prevail ... as it does with the buffer range above each speed limit, the buffer zone after speed advising signs, etc.

don't you worry, pretty soon you won't be able to switch from left to right without being recorded on camera!
