Likely because its not meant to be better for students, simply a way that a stingy ALP government can cut infrastructure away from the state. They wont close schools because its politically correct not too, so they simply "encourage" them to amalgamate. If schools like Pasadena are one third full and are kids cant do yr 12 there because they cant offer subject choice then either close the school or fix it.

2 main reasons:

1. It just wreeks of massive USA style public school where teaching standards are diabolical, shitload of students which feels like your kid would just be another number and totally anonymous. When I think USA style super school, I think high school massacre.

2. I have a kid with a disability, so need to think about a school that has special support programs for this.

My old highschool - Northfield High ( Ross Smith) , is one of the schools that has been closed to form a super school.

I saw some photographs of Northfield High upon its closure last year and not much had changed since the time I was there in the 80's.

It was pretty crap then, so a brand new school can only be a good thing.

Woodville High stills seems pretty good - I did an Old Scholars' tour there last year.
