......if money was absolutely no object, I would:
1. Buy a decent size property and build a 'man-shed' big enough to house about a dozen cars, plus a fully kitted out bar area (like a pub - not just a backyarder).
2. Get involved in a V8 Supercar outfit and maybe give a bit of racing a crack myself.
3. Build a huge indoor/outdoor lawn bowling facility like the ones in the eastern states (with a restaurant, accomodation, shop etc) and run it as a hobby business.
4. Get one of those swanky corporate boxes at Footy Park.
5. Get into writing without the pressure of it having to be a meal ticket.

I'd always had fantasies about what I'd do, but the reality was subtly different, and less flashy.
I retired and planned a long overseas trip, and to pay off the house in Melbourne.
Then my wife died suddenly just before we were due to book the trip.
So, I sold up there, paid cash for a house here, and took a trip to Kruger National Park.
This year I'm off to the UK for a month.
However, apart from the fact that I'm free to do whatever I want, not a lot has changed.
I decided against buying the Cayman S I looked at last year, as it doesn't really out-perform my old Audi S2.
I don't think the R8 justifies the cost either, though I may be tempted if I were working and could let the ATO help pay for it rather than give them the money I earned.
I am considering buying a second property in the UK, and living in endless Summer, while I see Europe thoroughly.
I have an old school friend who is already doing that.
I've continued my usual pattern of regular donations to charity, though perhaps they have been a little bigger.
[Their big score will be in my will when I don't need it any more.]
