The hook plan didn't work. There's not enough room to get any momentum or leverage with the pole and the drop is too damned long!

The vacuum cleaner idea is good however again the 2.5m drop kills it as the hose isn't long enough.

Mrs Hondo and I have decided the only way is to remove the panel that covers the gap at the front but it's a 10cm x 2.5m length of chip board basically and is both glued and screwed in as I found out tonight and so will very likely snap if I pull it too hard. I'd have to very carefully remove it and then put it back.

Mice won't be able to get to it is some consolation.

I bought another packet of Sultana Bran tonight in the meantime ....

Yes it's entirely possible it will just stay there forever I think

My main concern is an insect infestation. I can get undeneath the panel (just) so I could toss 1000 cockroach baits into the cavity.

As CP called it - it's a goddamned abyss!

Cover a good size magnet in superglue.
Drop it on the box and let it set.(for gods sake dont miss ol son)
Tie the 2nd half of the magnet set to some line of some kind.
Happy fishing!

Hi Mickey - good question. We put spare cereal on top of that cupboard because we seem to have filled up all the normal bench space!

Current issue I have is that I have some electrical wiring & modem on the floor near tv in lounge room.

This isn't a huge deal, but as my wife & I recently acquired a puppy, we need to be able to somehow stop it from being able to get near it & chew/destroy it.

From what I can tell, options available are shelving - which would probably be done by a handyman....or perhaps something I could get from Bunnnings to cover the wires, although this would probably not be able to solve the issue of the modem.

Anyone got any suggestions, re a suitable handyman/carpenter, or any other ideas?

What about drilling a smallish hole in your TV cabinet so you can put the modem in there and run the wires out the back through the hole?

Would have thought a tv cabinet would have cable access space already. Buy a bigger tv cabinet?

Thanks, yeah, will look into those ideas.

Will see if I can put modem behind cabinet, too.

Not the best looking set up in the first place. Sorry.
I'd be running the modem in a spot where it's not in the way and in general out of view.
Or buy a cupboard and stick it in there.
TV can go in the middle of the wall then.
Find some inspiration GWW.
