My lad has a salt water tank, we've found little crabs three rooms away from the tank!!

We've been getting a few yabbies here at the moment so hopefully we get a good feed and I can eat hot yabbies and drink cold beer most of the night. Can't be beaten if you ask me. Anyone else here a bit partial to the old yabby???

MMMMMMM,yabbies straight out of the cooker on fresh buttered bread with a touch of vinegar and pepper then washed down with a Paley long neck, sheer bliss. It will be good when they start moving because then i will be able to show the kids how much fun dab netting for yabbies can be :D

We used to have a small net on a pole/handle (much like a butterfly net etc).
You tie a piece of meat to a peice of string.
Place the piece of meat just outside the yabbies hole/home - enough for it to smell the meat.
As it comes out of its home you ever so slowly drag the meat away from the hole.
Then sneak the net between the yabby hole and the yabbies tail (as they shoot backwards)
When they 'shoot' backwards to retreat to their hole bingo you have a yabby in your net.

Requires skill, expertise, patience and time...lol :D
You get what you give....

I use Ox liver on a bit of string, you just sit on the edge of the creek, just let it dangle in the water, when you feel something on the end of the meat you lift it up very slowly and thats when the dab net comes in handy just put the net under yabby hopefully still hanging onto the meat and you should have a yabby. You won't get a big as feed as using opera's but it's a hell of a lot of fun doing it, only problem the yabbies have to be on the move to get a decent feed, BC would have done it when he was a kid, but i thinks he a bit lazy to do this now

Well folks. The yabbies are most certainly biting at the minute. Have a nice little spot which is bringing in around 500 yabbies in a few hours so that is good for a decent feed. They're not going crazy like they will be in a month or so, but they are definately around the place. I'm setting the opera house nets after work tonight and will check each night after work in the lead up to christmas and will spend all xmas day pigging out on yabbies and drinking cold beer. Who needs crayfish when you have fresh yabbies.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.
