theres a donut shop or some shop at the Adelaide train station as you walk from the trains up the ramp to north terrace. They make the best hot cinamon donuts. I always used to stop there on my way to school or when i wagged school i used to get me donuts for brekky and then head into the city and be happy full of hot donuts. :)

Its seems as the years go on the harder it is to find a nice fluffy, soft, melt in your mouth donut. Esp in the city. Ive tried so many hoping to find utopia and failed miserably of late. Some I dont even finish they are that bad.

Best Ive had for a while is the old faithful Yankalila Bakery. Used to have OK ones at the Flaggy bakery until recently, went well on a Sunday morning with ice coffee, but a change in ownership wrecked that.

I don't know why but almost nothing made me pray for an aeronautical disaster than seeing the herd mentality of greedy wallies with crates of Crispy Creams (sorry, I won't submit) swanning around in airports with their overprices glazed goods.

This article fills me with glee:

The Hot jam donuts you can get at Melbourne's Queen Vic markets
are particularly good. Warning though, you have to let the jam cool or its goodbye to the roof of your mouth!

Do people like icing on their doughnuts?

Personally I think icing ruins them. It's too overpowering.

Same with custard slice and custard berliners, I prefer them without icing too.

The little greenacres bakery does a nice little donut. It's all about the dough though. the fresher the better. Issue with crispy cremes and any bakery is that mass produced and left sitting for a while before you get into them makes them taste worse.
