Dear Mrs F. Chick.

My professional advice would be to call Mr W. L. Fever.

Regards,

Mr M. Park.

Just on this everyone i really must add:

If anyone works on their electrical they obviously are at risk of shock, even if you think you turned off power.

Only A class can work on 'fixed wiring'

B glass can only disconnect item ie, light, powerpoint etc then reconnect with a new one

If you do anything above this and a fault occurs and your house burns down you will not get paid any insurance and it is illegal

CALL A SPARKY ALWAYS you risk too much attempting any work yourself, not just you, but when the next sparky comes along and you have done a dodgy (it might work but it could be illegal) you may put them at risk.

I speak with experience when I got in a roof once and recieved a shock from a 'handyman' job that was illegal

Cheers

You may need a plumber.
It looks to me a little like water may be getting in through the roof and pooling above the batten plug, then dripping through.

Can lights be connected to Power circut?

Yes they can, But No they shouldn't.

Seek professional advice..!

#1. Everyone should have a Earth Leakage Thingy...? A safety switch that drops out the electricity when something is wrong.

Get one of them first.
Smile :)

Hi all
Getting the house rewired currently and not sure whether to have 3 phase power installed or normal single phase.
Currently there is no real need for it, as it isnt extended. However we are looking to get an 8 duct Reverse cycle AC in the future (not sure on what size system at present but will be 8 ish ducts and 150 sq/m living space).Wondering what are people thoughts? my knowledge on all of this is v limited. Are we better off getting 'normal' now and upgrading later when extending if needed, or doing it now and buying electrical items to accommodate at a later date??
Cheers

get 3 phase for sure.

Single phase you can get 80A max without a local transformer.

3phase you can get 63A per phase = 189A

My place is single phase and running a 6 duct Air Conditioning system in a 249sq m house, with solar-electric HWS, and all electric cooking, with no problem.
It is high current or high starting current applications that force 3-phase - welders and some types of pump.

That said, in a previous house when we did a substantial extension we were required to convert to 2-phase power simply because of the total number of power points.
[My fault for always putting in doubles not singles and wanting 2 or 3 points in each room when we started building and in the extension.]

Dont go to any great expense or trouble to get 3 phase connected. With today's invertor-style airco systems, you can get enough oomph out of single phase units. I have 2 x 11kw units at my place, both single phase Daikin invertors. They work a treat, although im pretty sure i have a massive hole in the ozone layer right above my house... ;)

Correct, I had 3 phase put in when I built 13 years ago just for the A/C but it's not needed these days.

That said, it only cost about $100 back then!
