i just see it as an advertisement saying that it just shows that all peoples love KFC - ( replace the West Indies supporters with any other supporters, would that be racist too?? ) sheesh, are we becoming that precious!!!

and if they made an ad with a black dude that used meat pies or beers to settle a big Aussie crowd...is that racist?

I found the ad quite funny because I've been to the cricket in the West Indies and our ticket into the cricket included lunch (and 8 drinks). Guess what we got for lunch? KFC. It certainly shut the Aussie supporters up!

The West Indies also had a very prominent sponsorship with KFC on the Jimmy Adams led tour to Australia as well. I reckon my namesake Nixon McLean and Brian Lara featured in some ads.

It hasn't been pointed out either that the West Indies are the touring one day team here this summer - hence Aussies may find themselves sitting amongst their supporters. Would it have been racist if the touring team had been Sri Lanka or New Zealand and a bucket of chicken was given?

The people who genuinely see this ad as racist are in fact the ones that are racist here.

By saying this draws on the stereotype that all African Americans like fried chicken is effectively drawing on, or creating the stereotype that all black people are African American, and quite clearly those in the ad are supposed to be West Indian.

People who are offended by this ad's ''racism'' are immediately seeing white and black people together and drawing a comparison between the 2, rather than just seeing a group people at the cricket, who's only difference is the teams they support.

If anything this ad is the complete opposite to racist for the simple fact it demonstrates people of different colors sharing a common interest and the black/white issue does not even come into it.

If it were a summer when England or South Africa toured and the ad featured white people supporting either of those country's, the ad would not have even copped a mention

The ''That's Racist'' brigade are the ones who should be slammed as racist, as they do far more harm than good.
They see a group of people of different colors in a situation that would not rate a mention if they were all of the same color, and they automatically raise the racism alarm, which then forces company's in future to make divisions between people based on race, in order to avoid again be accused of being racist.

Unfair to bring this into it. It's a completely different case.


Another point to consider: it's an ad for the "crowd pleaser pack", he's pleased a crowd with it. These muppets are over analysing what the ad is about.

As Sam_goUUUdogs pointed out, they're doing more harm than good. It draws attention away from the genuine racist undercurrent of society. Yeah sure, have a harmless advert pulled, but does it help people who are stuck in a cycle of poverty going back generations?
