Continue or postpone??

It should be postponed until 6pm Saturday evening. By then the cool has started to set in, there is a bit more shade and the UV risk is lower.

I'd be stuffed if I'd like my wife, 6 y.o & 4 y.o on the train on a Saturday evening.

The trains and buses going home after a big evening event (eg Skyshow) are usually OK, although a bit crowded with the rush after the event. For Skyshow shuttle buses are/were put on, similar to the Footy bus routes.

That's enough for me to object. Yes I'm a sook and yes I am over-protective of my kids.

Dedja is right, it's cooler in the morning and it will still only be around 35c come 11.30am when it finishes.

If any move needs to be made, they could just start it a little earlier..

This is right. Either way - if the change was going to come in the arvo and the temp only get to 34 like orginally forecast, or whether it continues to heat up in the arvo and get to 39 - the temperatures for the morning pageant would be roughly the same anyway.

Mrs Choccies is in the pageant for the 13th year running and I can tell you she is a little concerned about the forecasted heat especially as she will be spending her pageant time inside a giant cupcake costume.....

They should of made it earlier. Going have the best seat in the house tomorrow as they come down North Terrace. Just going to stay home and watch it on TV

Just got home and have now cooled down a little. It sure was hot but it was still a grand morning out. There was plenty of cold water being handed out and sprayed around to keep the crowd cool and hydrated. Some of the participants looked a bit hot under the collar well done to all those that marched and helped out. Hopefully by now Santa is installed in his air-conditioned magic cave.

No the crowd was well down on previous years - less than half the normal crowd probably more like a third of normal. That was good because we wallowed under a shady tree in Victoria Square until it started then casually sauntered over and got a spot right at the front.

Was probably a ratings boom for Channel Nine, Eddie will be happy!

Still had 224,000 turn up - that's a pretty good effort given the constant heat and todays tempreature - I think
100,000 less than last year

I don't think it should have been postponed and I don't think it should be at 6pm (still 35 degrees .... hotter than at 10AM!)

However, I reckon starting it 1 hour earlier could have helped

Why would Eddie be happy, he isn't the boss in Melbourne anymore. He wouldn't influence the bosses here anyway.

I've just read some of the comments from the Adelaide Now website,
People are saying there's no way there was that many there,
I didn't see it, but everyone is complaining about the TV coverage big time !

224,000 is a somewhat strange estimate. Most estimates for a crowd of that size and nature would be either 220,000 or 230,000, maybe 225,000 at a pinch. But 224,000?
