Worst ever version was Ricky May in the 87 Grand Final, downright embarassing. :oops:
I only sing it if extremely drunk (as drunk as I need to be to dance).
Otherwise it should only be Julie Anthony that sings it by law!

Best version - the boys in the Coopers Ale House prior to the '06 World Cup match against Japan.

Still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up thinking about it!

This one appears to be mimed as the mouth movements did not correlate with those needed to form the words.

Overall I think I liked the Choir of Hard Knocks version.

I am constantly amazed that Australians don't take their hats off for the national anthem. Was it not taught in schools here? Is it not important enough?

Aussies do sign loud and strong in rugby matches as I've been to quite a few internationals now. I'd like to think it was something to do with the game (which they play in heaven). :D

I know the national anthem but do not sing it at school...... throughout primary school on every Thursday, we would sing it before assembly, but since then, we haven't....

It didn't bother me that we had to sing it and it doesn't bother me that we don't.

From memory, the second verse:

Beneath the radiant Southern Cross we'll toil with hearts and hands
To make this Commonwealth of ours renowned in all the lands
For those who've come across the sea we've boundless plains to share
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Advance Australia Fair

OK folks here it is;

This was the ORIGINAL version penned in 1879

1
Australia's sons let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in Nature's gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In hist'ry's page, let ev'ry stage
Advance Australia fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia fair.

2
When gallant Cook from Albion sailed,
To trace wide oceans o'er,
True British courage bore him on,
Til he landed on our shore.
Then here he raised Old England's flag,
The standard of the brave;
"With all her faults we love her still"
"Britannia rules the wave."
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair.

3
While other nations of the globe
Behold us from afar,
We'll rise to high renown and shine
Like our glorious southern star;
From England soil and Fatherland,
Scotia and Erin fair,
Let all combine with heart and hand
To advance Australia fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair.

4
Should foreign foe e'er sight our coast,
Or dare a foot to land,
We'll rouse to arms like sires of yore,
To guard our native strand;
Britannia then shall surely know,
Though oceans roll between,
Her sons in fair Australia's land
Still keep their courage green.
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair.

At Federation in 1901, the THIRD verse was changed to

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross,
We'll toil with hearts and hands;
To make our youthful Commonwealth
Renowned of all the lands;
For loyal sons beyond the seas
We've boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To advance Australia fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair!

Upon becoming the official National Anthem in 1984 the 2nd verse deleted, 3rd changed slightly & 4th deleted
The first verse also changed slightly to start with "Australians all let us rejoice".

The updated lines in the second verse were;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who've come across the seas

There is a religious verse which is called the sixth verse it is;

With Christ our head and cornerstone,
We'll build our Nation's might.
Whose way and truth and light alone
Can guide our path aright.
Our lives, a sacrifice of love
Reflect our Master's care.
With faces turned to heaven above
Advance Australia fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair!
