The eight-year girl was in cardiac arrest trapped under a large Gumtree branch when paramedics arrived. A 55-year-old male teacher, a five-year-old kindergarten student and her seven-year-old brother were also injured.

Is it not time we ignored the Green fanatics and stopped having to retain native trees in public places where they can drop branches on people as they do.

When I lived in the Dandenong Ranges there were several deaths every summer from the same cause, but at least those victims had a choice about whether to go walking in the state forest.

The early European settlers here were not totally stupid replacing the native gums around their homes and public places.
Moist European trees are much less likely to drop branches, and much less inflammable (pines excepted).
Ivy as a ground cover on slopes is fire resistant too...

Why not put up fake trees everywhere Psyber? Make them fire retarded also. ;) Then we can all be safe from those evil trees and greens.

Any tree under severe water stress is likely to drop limbs.

Channel ten's winter oympics coverage.

Watching the curling bronze medal game tonight. Channel ten missed the first few stones of every end in order to present a full complement of adverts. This I can understand. What I cannot understand is why they would then cut away to another full set of ads after a couple more stones. smack bang in the middle of a crucial end - and no, this was not wholly during a timeout.

Eff you, channel ten.

I sure hope Foxtel gets the rights for Pyeongchang, like it did in Vancouver. I miss having every single event live...

The design flaw in husqvarna ride on mowers. The dopey buggers put the drink holder on the same side as the cuttings deflector & I end up with grass cuttings in my can of Jack Daniels.

That would be mean, we have almost 2 acres of lawn to mow.
Did get breakfast in bed twice this weekend though.

I can't stand those stick figure family stickers. It can make a car look really tacky, much like putting a huge 'Ford' or 'Holden' sticker on a car that is obviously a Ford or a Holden.

Pell being promoted within the Vatican???
I suppose his disgraceful attitude and comments over the past 12 months defending the church over rape paedophilia and consistent intimidation of victims was reward

Some years ago an Australian submarine dived with two crew still on deck. The two sailors drownd and I believe their bodies were never found.

I'm happy to be corrected, but I believe the Sub's captain (who is responsible to ensure all crew are inside when the sub dives) was promoted to keep him silent concerning the problems within the Australian navy at the time.
