Migraines are a curse ... I don't suffer but my missus and one of my daughters do, knocks them out for 24 hours or so.

My daughter has had them pretty bad this year, missed heaps of school earlier on, our physio put us on to a traditional acupuncturist after she had a head ache of varying levels every day for over a month, 1st treatment and it went away for a week, she's also seen a specialist and now has been pain free for a couple of months, I tend (as does the specialist) think it's a combination of the modern medicine and the acupuncture doing the good work, not just one or the other.

My missus is a physio and she's fairly convinced its her neck ... if she manipulates her neck early enough she can tend to ease off the symptoms before a full onset.

She has never taken medication for it.

Really?

I'm almost 30, and I'm relishing the thought of becoming a fully-fledged adult, whereas turned 20 scared the shit out of me.

I suppose I'm a lot more comfortable in my own skin than I was at 20.

She has never taken medication for it.

So instead of nudging her hopefully with your elbow, you've learned to start rubbing her neck?
