Thanks mate, I don't know how long the grieving process takes but he wouldn't want me to be wallowing in my mire. I just try and get through each day the best I can.
My 10 year old daughter has been my pillar of strength, she is just an amazing young girl.

Thanks Buddy, it was the first time I've read it since the funeral, it took me a few attempts to get through.

It wasn't that hard to write, I could've turned the service into a seminar with anecdotes, the old man was never sad and always turned a bad situation into something funny, even in his darkest hours.

I can imagine it must have been tough for you, but I'm sure we all appreciate you sharing with us.

I've been to good funerals where a person's life was celebrated, and I've been to terrible funerals that have been way too morbid for my liking, and I'd much rather people come away from it with a laugh and a good yarn.

Absolutely, the funeral director ran over to me as I was about to leave to say it was one of the best funerals he's had the privilege of being involved with. My sister's eulogy was pure brilliance, I was so proud of her, I know how much she's hurting & she just held her shit together and ploughed through it for her dad.

Brother's funeral and wake was hysterical - as in, wailing grief.

Old man's funeral and wake was hysterical - as in, piss funny.

article outlines cyclists being caught speeding on a pedestrian path at south bank in Brisbane 3 times the speed limit posted on these paths for cyclists (10kph), and the police just stop them, give them a slap on the wrist. Have a giggle about it and they are sent on their way.

So does this mean if I do 3 times the speed limit on the roads I should get this giggle and don't do it again?

And yes, I do cycle everyday and love riding, but never break the law.

Can't believe the Police wasted time and resources for that. Either turn a blind eye to it or throw the book!

Welcome to the real world...

As and Englishman living in Australia for 37 years, do you reckon the Aussie team, commentators and public all displayed wonderful compassion/respect for the English team in the 90's early 2000's???

Not freaking likely...

Probably a good thing you don't live in the UK. The concept of compulsory helmets is yet to reach the mother country and just the other day bike enthusiasts protested in London at the 4th cyclist death in a few days about their safety. Wear a ******* helmet would be a good start!

People who jog on the road, in the dark, in the opposite direction of the traffic.

We almost hit a couple doing exactly this around a corner on Brebner Drive, West Lakes the other night.
