The other bidders history is weird. He only bids once or twice on things, always the same sort of things the seller sells, and has ZERO feedback. So that leads me to believe that hes never bought anything.

I have a screen phone and subscribe to caller id, $6 a month. If the phone rings and I don't recognise the number or if it comes up as private number or overseas (getting regular calls with the on the screen) I ignore the call. If someone I know leaves a message on the answering machine, then I return their call. Most often the nuisance calls just hang up when it reverts to the answering machine. Doesn't stop all the nuisance calls, but discourages them.

I've registered my phone number on the donotcall register but still get phone calls that hung up when it goes to the answering machine. Stops a lot but not all.

I'm on the DO NOT CALL register, but get calls from the people claiming they are from Microsoft, and they want to fix my computer.

As a result, for most of the time these days, I unplug my landline, as all the people who would want to contact me, would do so via my mobile number.

dont no call registers are for legit companies. This DOES NOT include scam calls or people trying to "help you with a virus" from microsoft.

Just something you need to put up with. If its "such and such trying to seel you something" , then, this is the do not call register

get a new, private number. no more calls. we have had a private number since we got our house 6 years ago, and to my knowledge we have never had a nuisance call, legit sales or scams.

best bit is if you dont give it to annoying rellies they cant look you up
