Don't get me started. I hear people bitch and moan that if it doesn't fall on the actual day then we shouldn't pay remembrance. I bet the same wankers have had a birthday party that hasn't actually fallen on the exact date. Any game on the week or weekend where we are going to pay tribute to the selfless sacrifices made for our country by the Anzacs is fine by me. It's 5 minutes of respect that we can all spare.
A few years ago when I was coaching the C grade on the weekend of the Anzac Day clash I lined both teams up for a minutes silence. No last post, no fan fare. Just a minute of silence out of respect. If people don't understand the significance or agree with it I really don't want to know them

Agree with all that, though i think the signifigance of playing on ANZAC Day is slowly getting lost with most amatuer clubs both football and soccer trying to cash in on such a significant day.

Its a real pet hate of mine especially when you see most games are against teams they have no real tradition or history with.

To make it worse many dont do the last post minute silent ceremony justice.
