Finding out today that my current 150 plus hours of sick leave which will continue to rise will not be paid out at the end of my apprenticeship after all along I thought any remaining Annual and also Sick leave would be. I hate being sick but don't get sick much and probably won't use my sick leave, spewing that the hours I'll rack up won't get paid out! But I guess it's the norm.

Agreed, although for some reason my unused sick leave rolls over too. I have something like 130 sick leave hours up my sleeve.

I realise that, but as you'd know, every workplace would allocate a certain amount of sick days per year. I don't lose mine if I don't use them.

maybe so, maybe i am wrong, but most dont, and its whatever you sign when you are emploed i guess. But the law states (im sure), all annual leave must be paid out, it never says by law, all sick leave must be paid out. It comes down to the companies there i would think on what they offer people or employees

i've never heard of anyone getting paid out there sick leave... thats why you should use it

It's pretty much transferable from one state public service or federal public service agency to another. Hence you were able to take it with you.

Not sure whose post to quote from the above, but I believe technically an employer can wipe out unused sick leave every year. Also, does it accrue throughout the year, or are you granted 10 days at the start?
