I have read into this a bit, if a jet needs to be diverted due to emergency or weather, or running low on grog, it can land during the curfew. Small jets (Rex etc.,) don't have a curfew but what flew over this morning was a Virgin or Qantas jet (I was awake anyway)

there was a 2nd one at 4.45am which I've been advised since that it was probably a RFDS , the engine size wasnt anywhere near that of the first one.

Considering the only airports without curfew are darwin and melbourne (I think) they couldve only come from either - but still wouldn't have been able to take off from their origin if they know that they'll be landing during curfew - cos they get fined shiteloads apparently.

my experience is that it may have been an emergency landing for any number of issues.

It may not have been a qantas or virgin as one morning an airline with arabic writing landed.

Ring up AAL and ask about it.
