Voluntary redundancies at work! 48 weeks pay plus leave and 50k!
Hanging around for 28 years finally paid off!

PS Anyone got some jobs going in the new year?

That's a hell of a lot of tax there.

Not complaining, I'm getting around 130K after tax. That should last me a couple of weeks ;)

That's wicked, (well it's not wicked that people are losing jobs but you know what I mean) Ka- ching! I'd jump all over a voluntary redundancy if they came up at my work. Not sure the deal would be as good as that though

When do you finish up?

Not decided yet, originally was thinking Jan or Feb but a guy that went today only applied 5 weeks ago so hoping it might be earlier than originally planned. Can't wait after 28 years although I've done a lot of different jobs in the department, still not sure what my next step will be but will probably look at the state government or another federal dept or commenting work in IT. My fallback position will be as a barman which has always been my dream job since I was a kid although the pays not great.

I didn't think you go back to Government if you took a Govt redundancy?

You can't go back to the feds for 36 weeks (some times 52). It doesn't cover contracting too :)
Doesn't include state or local government.

Picked up my golf Monthly Medal shirt plus a visor as my hair is getting a bit out of control.
So just took the dog for a walk and a girl chuckled as she walked past, I actually don't think I look any siller than normal, but hey if it makes someone have a laugh than I say it's a good thing!
Plus if that's the case it may help cause distractions at golf!

The only time i've ever picked up a call from a private number and it was Triple M calling to tell me I'd won Jimmy Barnes tickets!

Thanks, I'll take that! 8)

I've always loved The Grampians. Halls Gap is my favourite little town in Australia.

Should only be taxed at around 3% for the redundancy.

Yeah we stayed in Halls Gap and have to agree what a great little town, looking to make it a yearly holiday considering it's only 5.5 hours away

Good call. There's always plenty for the missus and kids to do around there too.

Did you visit the zoo?

Didn't have time for the zoo as we wanted to do as many hiking tracks as possible but will take the kids next year and the zoo is on the cards, the range of animals looked very impressive

There used to be a really good market in the Primary school grounds, I'm not sure if they still run it though.
