Mrs K and myself decided on the the Brompton for our anniversary.

Wasn't the best of starts, we were running a bit late and then couldn't get a park anywhere near the venue, so when we got there 20 minutes past our booking time, they'd given our table away. We waiting in the front bar whilst they opened up a spot, but after standing at the bar for 5 minutes without a staff member saying a single word I gave up on the drinks. Thankfully the wait for a restaurant table wasn't too long.

We ordered a few of their tasting plates to share as starters, and they included:

Oysters Kilpatrick - the tang in the sauce was as good as you'll find anywhere.
Barramundi Cevice - small pieces of cold Barra in lemon and oil with onion, Chilli and Ciabata bread. Exquisite and seriously refreshing.
Salt & Chilli Squid - I'm a massive Squid mark, and I'm rating this the tastiest I've had. Cooked to perfection, and no appearance of oil whatsoever.

For mains we both ordered the same thing, the chilli Crab Linguine. It's different to other versions I've had before. The chilli was extremely mild (too mild if you're a fan) but the cherry tomatoes, Linguine and crab meat altogether is superb. Was plenty enough for me, but if you're a person with a decent appetite you might need a few more entrees beforehand to fill up.

Missus had 3 x glasses of wine and my boring self 1 x Mineral Water.

Total cost came to $128 put the Ent voucher brought it down to $93.

Food and service were outstanding, the vibe in the restaurant was excellent, so I have no concern whatsoever about recommending this place.

Rating 8.5/10

Great revue. It begs the question though the Missus had 3 glasses, do we need to start a post restaurant revue section ;)

Kentish Arms on Stanley st. North Adelaide

Went with a mate for a business lunch this week. Walked in and ordered straight away. The girl claimed they were famous for their Chicken Parmi. That was good enough for us with a Garlic bread and a couple of cokes.

Sat In the beer garden with one other couple and 3 or 4 other bludgers having a slow long work lunch. There may have been a couple of other sets of folk in the bar and restaurant area. Took 20 minutes to get a very average tasteless pita bread garlic bread with what could only be described as a hint of garlic. Took another 20 minutes to get the Parmis. Far too slow for lunch time service but TBH we were not in any rush.

The Parmis were not served on a plate but on one of those fancy cutting board type set ups. Large serve of slaw in the bowl. The slaw had coriander in it so didn't particularly tickle me in the britches. If you like corri you would like the Slaw but I'm anti. Shoestring fries under my schnitzel  Why, why every pub, why do they do this. I will give them the benefit as it may not have fitted sitting adjacent. The main event was spectacularly presented though and it looked like the photos you see of a classic Parmi. Taste was great. It was a big succulent cut of schnitzel that had real classical chicken schnitzel flavour and was cooked perfectly so not too dry. It actually had strips of bacon delicately melted into a tasty mozzarella. The sauce was very nice and complimented the Parmi without dominating it. It was a very good Parmi.

Parmis were $22 each so the meal and drinks would have gone about $60 down to $45 with the 25% off. I didn't pay but it certainly would be in the ball park.

It is a very good Parmi but I have always been vexed as to how to f@ck a Parmi has become so prevalent at so many establishments. The service was slow, sides were not much chop and it wasn't cheap for a lunch but they did get the most important thing right. If you want a good Parmi it is definitely worth a visit. Overall 8/10

Restaurant & Pub Reviews

Nordburger.

Already think quite low of this place. Extremely overrated and pretty terrible compared to the other burger joints about.

But I live just up the road and was starving for a burger this morning.

Roll in, only to be told that it's breakfast menu only until 11am. **** sake, hate places that do this. My biggest regret was not walking out then. Knew it should have been done.

Anyway, order the sausage and egg muffin with a couple hash browns.

What I get is two very average and very small hash browns and a sausage and egg muffin worse than from maccas or HJs.

Nordburger is an absolute sack of shit. 0/10 will never be back.

Our first ever 0/10. Perhaps a touch harsh but the underlying theme of your post is that you're not a fan by all accounts. Out of curiosity what was the price of this atrocity.

At the risk of ridicule...Took Mrs Wrist to try McDonalds build your own last night to get a second opinion.

I went for the fancy bun, double Angus, Bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, caramelised onion and aioli whilst the missus went chicken double bacon and some salads. Both with a Large coke and basket of hot fries. $16 each.

It's not 127 but it is genuinely good. We both agreed it was definitely the best Maccas burger we had ever had by a stretch and it compared to others we have had at Burger joints. It's worth a visit if you have kids to try it. Get your kids a happy meal and throw of them on the play ground and enjoy your burger "It's very un-McDonalds" :)

8/10.

Yeah probably a touch harsh. But it was genuinely worse than maccas. $7.50 I think for the muffin and hash browns.

My negative bias towards the place definitely played a part in my score. But it's a terrible joint. So many better options.

Like you just said. Create your taste at Maccas is actually good. So much better than anything Nord has to offer.

Gotta admit, I always hated that places stuck to Brekky Menu only .. FFS they're known for their Burgers and Fries etc, give the people what they want!!

Like that time I ordered Nord breakfast at 11:01am and they wouldn't cook it for me.

Nordburger has definitely gone downhill in the last six months.

As so many places do when they starts pimping out franchises. Losses touch with the most important entity of the business - the customer.

If I owned a business and it was 11.15 and someone wanted breakfast menu and I had the ingredients I'd sure as shit cook it for them. Just seems like good business sense to me. When a kid wants to be part of one of my footy program's and registrations are closed I don't tell him to go play soccer. Apples and oranges I know but if you don't look after your clientele they will always find alternatives.
