For my 40th on Friday night some mates chipped in and got me two vouchers with each voucher covering 6 cartons ( so 12 cartons ) from U Brew it.
Can't wait to get there and get into it!!
Well, I went and laid down my first brew on Saturday. Cisco Kid ( Sierra Nevada ) Pale Ale. 5.7%
Had an absolute ball doing it, mind you, the owners insisting on your glass always being full while doing your brew didn't hurt! ( Especially at 6.1% on the tap!) They said "What sort of bloke brews beer and asks his mates to pay for it?". That's the kicker. He's only selling you ingredients, not beer, if he did he'd need a licence and you'd need to pay tax. By simply selling you ingredients and you "borrow" his equipment and fridge means he's just a mate helping you do some home brewing.
You measure all the ingredients out, mix it, "cook" it, then they watch it for two weeks until you come back and bottle it.They then have it cold, carbonated and plumbed to a tap for you to bottle and cap upon your return. It's a great set up, the owners are ripping fella's and I can't wait to get back there and bottle by brews up. At $30 per carton ( and $50 for 144 bottles ) it works out to around $38 per carton of preservative free top shelf brew.
I think I've found heaven!!!
