The butcher still gives out the free fritz! At least our butcher at Marden does, top bloke.

Often a free marrowbone chucked in for the woofer as well (not apache bulldog).

I do miss the lego exhibitions, they were awesome.

Also the real magic cave at John Martins, with the section for kids to buy cheap Christmas presents for their parents. DJ's magic cave is a poor imitation.

Yearly lego exhibitions at Myer.

Getting a free piece of fritz from the butcher

Top floor of the old building, next to the "Ladies Lounge"...remember this one well. The trip into town on the bus in the school holidays, amazed that people could build such huge things out of Lego...and yes, I remember "Munch and Crunch" lunches well. I reckon I was in Year 5 when they first started and they were very popular for a while.

Charles Moores.
I was sat on my father's shoulder to see the remains of the Charles Moore's fire in Victoria Square.
I think it was where the Court buildings are now on the western side of the square, or perhaps the Hilton site.

Miller Andersons.
A city store in Hindley St up-market from David Jones. My first student job when still in High School vacation was there, selling crystal wine glasses for whatever people drank before Chardonnay became popular! [Along with silverware and quality china - I'd started in menswear but they called for a volunteer and I worked out that would keep me employed longer than the guys who stayed in menswear.]

The fire finished CM, and MA, just went quietly bankrupt as the world moved down-market some years later.

You mean "Dazzleland" in the Myer Centre?

When they first opened Dazzleland and released the tokens, they had Myer spelt incorrectly on them. (MEYR. or was it MYRE? ) I think I still have one somewhere, I'll have to hunt for it!

BTW for anyone that cares. Razz's and Gulps sell for $4.69 for a box of 6 at Woolies. :D

Miller Andersons. When I was little, I remember an old lady on the bus telling me a story of when she was little. Her mother would take her into Miller Andersons and you could store your sleeping baby in a cupboard while you shopped. Imagine that now

Moores were still going in the 70's but it was in it's death throes. I remember getting a stack of cheap singles there when they finally closed (1977??)
Miller Andersons must have disappeared about a similiar time.

Someone in Rundle Mall [?Coles] sold "Galaxy Sandwiches" - cheese and bacon sandwiches, battered and deep fried.
Not PC with the health police, but I loved them.
