My dad used to take me there. No idea where it was, I just remember it was dark and obviously muddy!

Torrens Rd Brompton. A former brick pit that was owned the the SA soccer Federation who wanted to use it as a home base but couldn't get any grass to grow. So the leased it and Rowley Park Speedway was born.

I think once it closed and sold for housing the streets were named after drivers who lost their lives at the speedway??

My old man was involved in the speedway and once told me there was a plaque on the site in dedication to Rowley Park. Have never been able to locate this plaque so cant confirm it exists

http://www.salife7.com.au/adelaide/plac ... k-speedway

at the end of Video there is vision of said plaque

The corner of North East & Bridge roads. There is a BP petrol station & a tyre store among others there now.

North East and Bridge Rds intersect?

Yes, Sorry my bad. N.E. & Wright roads was what I meant. My old man used to run a service station just down the road on the corner of N.E. road & Kelly Road many years ago. So I pretty much spend my Saturdays & Sundays in that area. BTW, there used to be a lot of service stations along that piece of road.

I wanted to go but an over protective mother (country AND western fan) plus no way of getting there and back put the kybosh on that concert. Ended up going to see a movie called Cry Freedom that night with my Dad on a free double pass from a 5AD competition at the cinema in Hindley St that later became Timezone then the symphony orchestra home.

No substitute for AC/DC but did get free beer before the movie despite being 15. Dad was OK with that and nobody asked for ID.

I remember Lloyds

Used to be one in Surrey Downs, where the chemist/doctors office is now, next to the Golden Grove Tavern.

That was awful, I used to hold my breath whenever we drove past

You know you're nearing 40 in Adelaide if you can remember the antics of our old friend George at Adelaide ZOo.

I'm sure there would be a few of us with a George story or two.
He squirted me with a hose once

Yes, a HOSE, he stole it off the keeper and apparently took full aim at me and my Grandmother.
