Ah so, that great new logo wont do a thing - it will be the millions of dollars we spend on TV including Magda

What is the most amusing thing is watching Jay and all of the flunkies defend another cock up

And, the people of KI are seething despite the spin!!!!!

Didn't seem much fuss about KI missing on the SA Great logo, which most people laud.

I don't like it, nor do I hate it.

I understand the thinking behind it. That part makes sense. Maybe they fell too much into the romance of our state being in the perfect position for a doorway.

I like the colours of the reds. But, I don't like the Channel 7 inspired turn for the top of QLD.

The colours of the doorway create TOO much negative space and the eye is drawn to the red, not the SA section. If anything, the entire continent is too dominant. Maybe an orange Australia and red doors could've worked. Or something like that.

Tasmania? Meh. I like Tassie - but the outside of the logo is a representation of the country, not an exact image or a map. Could argue it's actually there, and that bass straight is filled in. Sure, it's missing a state, but the idea is to show where SA in in Australia - not where every other state are. It's a silly comment, to be honest - picking for no reason. There are more valid reasons to pick the logo.

It looks like a logo that you'd find in the book about 60% through, which is a brainstorming of ideas before getting to the final design.

It DOES look better with the South Australia words underneath. I like the typeface and spacing. And it looks far better here http://www.brandsouthaustralia.com.au/ than it does not on there. Maybe it's the awesome sunlight coming through the door.

I might try my hand at modifying it to show what I think could improve.

But it's still a nice sign :D

Are you sure it doesn't look like a lawn-mowing business??

If the middle door had of been blue instead of Ochre then all the Adelaide United and Crows fans would have loved it.

This was/is the best logo for our great state. Why Jay and his cronies felt the need to blow off more borrowed dollars in an exercise in futility is just an example of how stupid they are

My point exactly - so why blow a million on it?
SA Great - must be South Africa - let's go there

Mind you, the same mob just blew $4m on a doctor because they are so arrogant they couldn't apologise.
Now ICAC might set up their offices in Mt Barker

Jay's had a good week............. :Hangman:

From a design aspect, adding in Tasmania would offset the logo in a weird way. Purely from a design aspect.

But, I reckon they could have just added a small "break" on the logo which wouldn't have added any actual size to it but would give more of an accurate representation

This is the current "outline" they have

Maybe a thin white line to break it up, adds "accuracy" without adding to the actual size.

The more I look at it, the more there needs to be a contrast.

The doorway is a nice idea in theory but it loses so much because the dominant part of the logo is the continent.
Australia needs to be dark with SA bright - or the reverse, with Australia light and SA dark - to stand out.

Or just use the shape of SA itself from that. It's a good strong identifiable shape.
I'd like green on there - the logo version of the vineyards looked awesome and stood out. But green on that current logo would look like a toffee apple.

DESIGNER Ken Cato has seen some bad initial reactions to his branding efforts – and South Australia’s response to his new state logo doesn’t’ come close to being the worst.

When he produced the Commonwealth Bank’s new logo back in 1991 it was ridiculed from one side of the country to the other.

Today, the simple yellow square with one black edge is worth countless dollars to the bank and remains, after several decades, one of the most recognisable brands in Australia.

Cato says the reaction to his new brand for South Australia isn’t in the same league, but it’s standard that “on the first day there’s a bucket of garbage tipped on it”.

“Five years from now if you talk to the same people, they’re all the ones who remembered how good it was at the time, and they just didn’t say,” he notes ruefully.

Sitting in Cato Partners’ Adelaide offices on Fullarton Rd, the bow-tied Victorian says his design – a simple red interpretation of the map of Australia with a series of open doors where South Australia is located – is both pragmatic and simple.
