I was warned that I shouldn't shop with them.

They advise people that there will be a 'nominal' wait for the furniture to arrive, then receive constant delays until their goods arrive.

We went there, got told "3-4 weeks" till the goods arrived so we ordered, $3500 worth. Now we receive the advice in writing that it's "expected 7-9 weeks" until delivery. That puts our plans into disarray for Christmas, given that the truck has been delayed already

Do NO trust these people. They are shonks.

I'll be having words with them again tomorrow, asking to speak to management and seeing what I can do.

go and get your money back if your not happy. Or go to another store and see if they have it in stock.

It's interesting isn't it, I dealt with them in May and had a lounge suite, dining table, entertainment unit and outdoor setting delivered within a fortnight, and couldn't complain at all.

So we cancelled the order with Super Amart and were able to get everything price matched through Le Cornu. They have 90% in stock, so here's hoping it's less than 9 weeks away.

The funny part is that the guy who we cancelled the order through made a strange statement. He said the "9 week" statement is 'just an indicative timeframe we give to all our customers'.

If it's indicative, then you're contradicting your sales people who are obviously giving us another 'indicative' no.

They don't understand about setting expectations!

We did get our deposit back even though the guy said that some of the order was on its way.

That's because it was all available.
Simple really.

They don't delay for no reason - they delay when the stock is delayed

Issue is it happens more than it should, ie with the OP.

Fair enough, I bought a lounge in July from Amarts at Gepps Cross and I had it in my house 5 days later. I never had any problems and would happily shop there again, which I will be soon as we have just bought another house which has an extra lounge room.
But, they obviously had it in stock which would be the difference.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

and that's the point - if it's NOT in stock, manage my expectation accordingly by telling me its 7 or 9 weeks (by including contingency regarding the expected delays). Don't blatantly lie to me, cos I'll get pi55ed off, cancel the order, smear their name on a high ranking website and go somewhere else.

I had this experience with Le Cornu about 7 years ago. Moved into my first place, bought a couch and dining room suite and was told it would be 2 weeks away. We would call and be told definately next week, this went on for 8 weeks. Sitting on bean bags for 8 weeks isnt fun, I hate bean bags now!

A similar thing happened to me with a large furniture store on Anzac Highway, I ordered a bed, I was told they were in stock in their warehouse in Adelaide. I rang the warehouse during the week, "yes we have your bed". On Saturday I hitched the trailer to the car drove to the warehouse and was told the bed was still in a container in Darwin!!!! The poor guy who was there only on weekends said they do this to customers all the time. I was so pissed off I went straight to the store and demanded a full refund which they gave me. A person from the store rang me later in the week to equire why I was so upset with their service. I just hung up. I will never shop there again.

Anyone had the unfortunate privilege of dealing with Le Cornu's Mile End bulkstore. I love how everyone at Keswick says, 'oh yeah you can pay the balance at Mile End', get to Mile End and it's 'oh no, we don't take payments, you have to go back to Keswick to pay for it first' (lucky I was paying on card so the let me phone through to Keswick to pay for it).

Next time I outsmarted them by saying I could only pick the item up on a Sunday, forcing them to take the item to Keswick for me to pick up

Yes Brucetiki, they are friggin hopeless. I waited for ages there that day, stinking hot whilst they fumbled about with paperwork and stock. It looked like no one actually knew what to do. There was the same problem you had with payments etc but thankfully not for me, mine was an easy pick up.......eventually.

The last couch we bought was from Harvey Norman. They were honest and said your couch will be manufactured on order and would take 4 weeks for delivery. They were spot on.

The other thing I forgot to mention, I also had to go hunting for the right bulkstore (back when they had 3). Took 25 minutes going up and down Railway Tce finding the right one because if you picked the wrong one, they didn't know which of the other two actually had it.
