Vote of Confidence for Rob Gerard

Anything!

Postby topsywaldron » Mon Dec 12, 2005 9:14 pm

Good to see my third post on this matter has been moderated.

Given some of the vile comments on other threads about domestic violence that have remained posted I can only assume someone has an axe to grind with my stance on Mr. Gerard and his "alleged" business dealings.

If anyone cares to explain why my posts have been deleted I would really be most interested.

Thanks C_P.

The only thing I can think of is that I said something libellous and Wedgie was warned or something? Can't work it out otherwise.

Is it really so hard for people to get their heads around the fact that this has nothing to do with footy clubs, community organizations or the Adelaide Zoo?

It's about Gerard's suitability to hold a position on the RBA board, which every man and his dog (except for SAFooty it seems) has called into question over his tax dodge, which is closer to $150 million by the way.

The standard Reserve Bank declaration requires nominees to say they do not have "private interests, including those of taxation nature, that would conflict with my responsibilities as a member of the board of the Reserve Bank of Australia or cause embarrassment to the Government".

The Tax Office audit into Gerard Industries concluded "that there was either a deliberate and knowing intention on part of Gerard Industries, acting through its directors R.G. Gerard and W.R. Henderson, to avoid the payment of tax or that there was a flagrant disregard for the operation of taxation law that cannot be exused in people of their skill and experience in business practice and taxation law."

It's amazing that Costello and Gerard would leave themselves open like this.

Why?? Those attacking him are most probably champagne socialists, the attacks on this great South Australian are politically motivated by that inept bunch of Fckuwits that call themselves an opposition to get at Peter Costello.

Mick, if ignorance is bliss you must be a happy man.

The scuttlebutt in the media as to who actually leaked the Gerard tax story to the Financial Review suggests it may have actually been from John Howard's team, in a successful attempt to squash his number one rival Peter Costello. I'm pretty sure Costello and Howard are both in the Liberal party, but i guess you will deny that as well. The same story also suggests that everyone new apart from the Labour party, who were the last to find out.

With all the calls of "What would the media know" etc that we read on these forums, we're being somewhat selective aren't we as to what we'll accept and what we won't??

There's no doubting Rob Gerard's generosity in sharing his pizzas. It's how he got all the 2-for-1 vouchers that is puzzling.
