I always (deliberately) get the wrong cards for my nieces and nephews ... They've always seen the humourous side and enjoy the laugh.

Nothing better than last year when I gave my twin nephews cards that said "To a big girl who's 6" .. They laughed and spend the next 20 minutes chasing me

The bind I was thinking of was allowing yourself to depend on a GF's memory, which may not be permanently accessible..
My current female friend seems to be having a little problem with the meaning of the word - she is beginning to show signs of thinking it means something like permanent.

On my brothers last birthday I got him a card that read something like "Happy Birthday to the best Great Grandma." That got a laugh.

I remember when I turned 12 my uncle got me a card with "Happy Birthday to a big 2 year old" on it and hand-wrote the 1 in front of the 2. I thought it was the funniest thing ever!

On my brothers last birthday I got him a card that read something like "Happy Birthday to the best Great Grandma." That got a laugh.

That works well with the cards that have a badge on them with the age, just alter the age and they'll wear the badge for the party, it will last longer than the bottle of beam you got them and they'll get more laughs out of it. Providing they are of legal drinking age of course e.g: a 25th or 30th etc.
