Also I'm not sure if it's uniform but my bank doesn't send emails so you know if you get one from "them" it's crap. My rule is I never open any junk mail unless I know who/where it's from.

I don't think any banks at all, at least in Australia, communicate with clients through email.

I think that some 'country/local' branches do to their business customers as part of their 'sales' but it's usually always if you personally know them and it's about going into the actual branch to see them or give them a call... and never click on an attachement, or follow a web address.

I think going by the write-up that there is going to be a doco on all these Nigerian scams called 'Fakes' on wednesday night on ABC2 at 9:30pm...right in the bloody middle of Newstopia!
