I believe from vaguely remembered family discussions that my mother did have an Aunt Fanny back in England.
As my mother was born in 1909 this great-aunt of mine would presumably have been born in the later 19th century when the name was more common.

Typing this has made me realise how the passing of time can be startling to the very young.
I was born in 1943, and an elderly neighbour who was like an extra grandparent to me was born in 1872.
He was a Blacksmith in Glenelg when it was a town, separate from , and seen as distant from, Adelaide.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!
