You are right technically. What it regularly translates to (in a general sense and not necessarily in this case) is that a large number of attacks result in the perpetrator going for oral and anal penetration as well as vaginal, hence three separate charges

He is pleading not guilty to MURDER...which would indicate his intentions was not to kill her. I think you'd find he would plead guilty to MANSLAUGHTER though...
