@FootyChick may disagree...

Well actually.... :lol:

It's funny you bring this up and yes I do disagree but not for the obvious reasons.

My penguin fixation didn't start till my early 20's - about 10-15 years after penguin Vic was being promoted. However, the song still firmly sticks in my mind

"So here's the trick,cmon and follow penguin vic, we've got a hundred thousand million billion trillion wonderful things to do" :D

Now if people can still remember and sing the song and remember the bird almost 40 years on, someone has done something right :lol:

PS: A Victorian designed our logo? Why was this outsourced? Pretty certain a South Australian would have a better idea of how to promote our state..

"The Incredible Penguins", prominently featuring Angry Anderson, covering Lennon/Ono's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)".

I have it too. 8)

A former Adelaide graffiti artist has won a competition to design a new logo for South Australia.

I actually prefer the official one as it shows people OS where we are even if it does depict us as a hole. The alternate one would mean nothing to them and would just appear as random shapes.

I agree that's what it should show people OS, but I doubt it will work in practice. It just looks like a door to Australia, if that. I can't imagine people who don't know where the state borders are will make that delineation.

I'm liking the official one more the more I see it.
I don't think overseas people will look at it and recoil in revulsion as we have. They'll probably come to associate it with whatever salt, juice, beer or chocolate or jam that it is they bought and so the simpler the better IMO. just look at Nike etc...
The alternate one looks real good. Maybe it's me as a South Australian though. The three basic rectangular shapes remind me alot of the festival theater art structures, he's incorporated the state colours into one of the designs also, and there's a little dot on the bottom so the Kangaroo Islanders are included too. All things very important to us as South Aussies that overseas folk couldn't give a rats about. It still looks good though, maybe would make a good t-shirt design.
Just thinking outside the box here so please give me shit if this is a dumb idea as dumb ideas deserve to be shat on: could it be our state footy team's guernsey?
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
