Sorry to hear that Moe.

I didn’t get my first dog til about 4 years ago, so never really understood why/how people got so attached to them. But I certainly do now.

I've last a few Wolfhounds, too, to euthanasia too - it's always a wrench to have to do it.
- one with bone cancer aged 9.
- one with Myocarditis and stretched heart valves aged 10.
- one with a spinal haemorrhage and paraplegia age 4 - not realistically manageable in an 80 Kg dog.

Another dog, a Deerhound, died of an anaphylactic reaction to a vaccination booster.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

been out all day and rocked home an hour or so ago and just grabbed my dog and cat and gave them a big hug and a rough-up. And then I said the most stupid thing: I said I love you to both of them. Duhhh. Perhaps they understood!

Bahaha I reckon Cory probably had a crush on Minnie Mouse or Daisy Duck as a kid and felt guilty about it.

My mum's been with her partner for about 12 or so years, and he bought their dog Arnie into the relationship.

Still remember the day I moved out to come over here to Lincoln with Dad, we were having a tear-up in the lounge, and Arnie came and humped my leg...

He's being put down today... :(

This is so true...its like losing your best friend. The love of a dog is unconditional and whether you are rich or poor, fat or thin, gorgeous or ugly they love you just the same. The most loyal forgiving creatures humans could learn from.

Personally, I don't think there's intelligent life on other planets. Why should other planets be any different from this one?

This discussion in the Cory Bernardi context has reminded me that my first wife and I had a Dalmatian bitch who used to try and join me in the shower.
(The door didn't always catch properly and we just had a shower curtain.)

Though she was pretty, and a show winner, I discouraged her because it bothered my wife - and the teeth bothered me! ;)
I had to fix the door latch in the end...

Maybe it was the peanut butter in the bathroom cabinet that bothered your wife...

My dog you was put down 2 years ago also used to come in the bathroom while someone was in the shower. would stick the head in around the shower curtain to say hello then just lay on the floor and wait till you were finished.... funny how these aminals have little idiosyncrasies
