STONED kidney

Postby mal » Fri Mar 16, 2012 9:05 am

Ended up in hospital earlier this week
I was in excruciating pain in my back, tummy and groin
After a quick prognosis in Emergency I had a kidney stone that would not pass
Oh the pain the pain of it all
I was given the options, one being if the pain continued much longer, if the stone would not pass, that an operation may be necessary
CT scans revealed a stone in my kidney tube, and 2 other stones
The pain after a few hours was still diabolical
I felt an even greater pain sensation where my tummy felt like it was gunna explode
Another pain killer
I had the need to urinate shortly after
A few minutes later the pain was over
It is believed that the piss I had passed the stone
Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I was home later that day
The Nurses and Doctors were professional , I rate the hospital an 11/10 for their efforts

WHAT NOW ?
Ive still got 2 more stones in the kidneys
What course of action should I follow up with ?
Should I consult with a Urologist ?
Should I let things run its course and hopefully the 2 Rolling Stones dissolve ?
Should I see a Dietitian on what I should be eating and drinking ?

MOVEMENTS
Another question I need to ask, will any varied or vigorous body movements shift the stones ?

NOW
Present time It feels like a time bomb in my Kidney
The likelihood of getting STONED again could be today could be in 20 years time
What I need to know is what can I do about it ?

My first one 25 years ago was similar I was told then to drink Beer and lots of it, which I did and seemed to make the next couple pass easier. My last one last year they spoke about using lasers to explode them into smaller bits. I just started drinking more beer.
What you need to do is find out what is causing them. A sample after passing would do it. It is probably something in your diet that you have changed. EG Ascorbic acid in large quantities will do it.

As I said before my young doc at the time emphasised BEER for a number of "chemical" and "reactional" reasons. I am sure they are not supported today because of PC. But he was emphatic it was what he was taught at the time. I can only claim "IT WORKS" over several episodes, and you know that is important for your continued wellbeing.
But Yes you need to discover what is causing it.

Good luck with it Mal, its something I hope I never get as it sounds like one of the most painful things short of child birth. :(

My old man had em in both kidneys, years before they could zap them with ultrasound so the op was pretty invasive.

Worst part was him showing off the massive scars while they were still raw.
It's all the SANFL's fault.
