ADELAIDE Metro is receiving an average of 250 complaints a week over the latest bus timetable changes.

Trouble continues to plague the $1.6 billion, 12-year contract with new carrier Transfield.

Service interruptions and delays which were initially dismissed as teething problems have continued to frustrate commuters.

BUS operators cannot be penalised or censured for the chaos commuters have endured during the first weeks of their new State Government contracts.

Troubled carriers Transfield and Torrens Transit have until January to fix their timetables without any threat of fines, a measure the Government traditionally takes to maintain service standards.

The Government will also wait until April before creating formal standards to which the state's troubled carriers must adhere.

Despite complaints of late service and drivers following incorrect routes still rolling in on a daily basis, The Advertiser can reveal the companies will not face repercussions until after a three-month review period.

Transport Services Minister Chloe Fox conceded monthly reports would not be looked at for the first time until January.

Seriously how incompetent are the people that designed this contract. Its been over a month and the bus service is still #@@@. The people responsible for the contracts should be made accountable. This has been going on for way too long whether under a Labour or Liberal govt but when they outsource to private firms the tax payer is always screwed. Its like we just give a blank piece of paper to these companies and a blank cheque and say here you go just write up what you want and we will be happy to sign it.

The latest debacle the department responsible for this mess congratulates its own staff for the wonderful work on the contract and just mentions a few trivial teething problems that will be sorted out within a couple of weeks.

One of the companies that tenders for the contract managed to smash a bus through a ladys house at Old Reynella this morning, they didnt say which company or depot it was from. Would be interested to hear what happened to cause that to happen, the driver was mentioned as being quite okay after the accident.

Was down at Old Reynella, so would suspect that's Southlink, who've been operating the Lonsdale depot since 2000.

I catch the 545X weekdays to and from town. To town, it's never been a problem. In fact we joke about knowing what time it is because the bus is always there at the right time.

On the way home it's a raffle. Either no bus for 45minutes or we get two in two minutes. The bus driver, when prompted about the delay says "sorry we didn't have any busses"......?

It's become a joke. I don't know if it will take 30 minutes or 1 1/4 hours to get home now. And it hasn't got any better, as I had a 45 minute delay on Friday.

A guy from Light City Buses (Transfield) was talking on the radio and he said that the transition has been going really really well as it is a very very complicated process.

OMG what fantasy world does this guy live on. What hope is there of it ever being fixed when they are in denial about whats really happening.

It gets better for Light City Buses - one of their drivers has been suspended after being involved in a road rage incident.

I wonder if this is the same driver that nearly ran me off the road the other week!

PUBLIC feedback has prompted the government to run shuttle trains on the Grange train line, which it recently announced would be closed for a year.

Initially the line was to run only at night and on weekends for 12 months from Monday, February 27, in a bid to cut the number of trains entering and exiting the city railway station during redevelopment works.

However, a public backlash over the planned closure has prompted the government to offer shuttle buses between Grange and Woodville stations.

Passengers can change over at Woodville to the Outer Harbour line, which will still run into the city station.
