Okay I thought I read somewhere they rolled over. Still an absolute cesspit of a council though.

BOOM gates and paid parking will be introduced at Westfield's West Lakes complex after the local council conceded it would lose a legal challenge against its decision to block the plan.

Charles Sturt council today said it "agreed to a compromise" after receiving legal advice.

The complex is regularly used by crowds at Port Power and Adelaide Crows home games at the nearby AAMI Stadium.

Westfield had appealed to the Environment, Resources and Development Court after the council's Development Assessment Panel refused an application to install boom gates and paid parking.

"Council received legal advice from its solicitors and Senior Counsel that it was almost certainly going to fail in court if it pursued a case to refuse the boom gate application," the council said in a statement.

"It was also advised that achieving positive community outcomes could be better reached if a compromise was reached between the parties."

LMAO - 30 minutes of walking and moving your eyes around does not counter the Chicken Yiros... ;)

car parking is a rip off, cheaper going to a brothel now a days.

just pay them and leave ya car in their driveway while u shop.

if they make u pay at ttp, that will be even worse

Saw an article that said paid parking is going into Westfields at Marion, wonder if Westfield own either Castle Plaza or Mitcham Shopping centre? Both will be doing pretty well out of the decision one might think!

About the same in Brisbane too - got slugged $40 for under 2 hours at the Myer Centre there (and that's the cheapest), They're also having battles with Westfield over paid suburban parking, with Chermside in the cross heirs for paid parking as well.

I also understand Westfield will be installing a smart parking system which will direct traffic to the nearest available car space (probably similar to what's at Burnside Village and Fairview Green), which hopefully will mean an end to the 20+ minute hunt for that elusive car space Westfields are notorious for, as well as a valet service for about $5.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

They own neither. Not sure who owns Mitcham but Castle Plaza is owned by Colonial First State (who also own the Myer Centre, Golden Grove Viilage, Ingle Farm Shopping Centre and Elizabeth Shopping Centre).
