i'll will never forget it.
I was at my GF's house, she was asleep and sandra sully crossed to breaking news (** now trying to work out why i wasn't watching talking footy?**?)
i thought it was a little plane (cesna) or something, so didnt think it was a huge deal. Until they said it was a passenger jet.
Tried to wake up the GF, she wouldn't budge, wasn't interested. Rang my old man who was was watching , then the second plane hit live in the background. It really hit home when the first tower crumbled, new it was MASSIVE then. watched it for hours, amazing tv.

never mind hutchins, what about IRWIN!
found out about that, when some smart ar##se was making jokes about it at work, w**nker!

We were tossing up whether to go to the US in May or Sept 2001 as we didnt want to go in the peak times in the middle of the year. Thankfully we made the decision to go in May, got to see the WTC exactly 4 months before they fell, got a few photos which is pretty spooky looking at them now thinking they only had days before they came down.

9/11: I must have turned the TV off just before it came on channel 10. First I knew was turning the radio on for the 6am news on MMM and turning the TV on to see the endless replays. Got to work and I'll always remember an Italian guy I worked with at the time saying to me "Rob I recon world war 3 has just begun".

Diana: Driving to put a bet on at the TAB near the Marion Hotel. Heard it on the radio.

Bali: Woke up Sunday morning to my Dad telling me that a Bomb had gone off in Bali and the Sturt team were all dead. He'd got his wires crossed but until I found out otherwise I was a mess. Thought they'd become another "Busby's Babes".

Hutchence: Half asleep on the couch after working a midnight to dawn lock in at Cyber City Elizabeth and sleeping until 1.30pm. It scrolled across the TV screen during a golf tournament that was on followed by a newsbreak during the next ad break.

Cheers

Rob

I was 13, just finished watching Rove. Started watching the Ch 10 news and there was the first tower smoking. Then saw the second plane hit, live...shit scary to a 13 year old. Then they showed people jumping and thats when i thought "Ef this! Im going to bed". Not many people in my Art class knew about it first thing on Wednesday morning, so i was kinda breaking the news to everyone. We had no idea what the WTC was though.

the night before 9/11 my GF at the time and I had packed for a short holiday in Wilpena Pound. at 6am my phone rang and it was my son in Sydney saying stop what you are doing (I was asleep) and stick Sky News on because a plane has crashed into the WTC and it looks scary. So we watched it for a couple of hours or so before we left home then stopped at every pub on the way to Wilpena to check the tv reports.
Bali - no idea what I was doing
Lady Di - I was doing the dishes and listening to ABC 891 when they started reporting it. I was gobsmacked.
Hutchence - no idea

(9/11) Working night shift and there was a tv in my cabin and I only got half as much done as I normally would but the boss didn't even tell me off later on.
Can remember listening to Bob Francis when the report came through and way it was reported initially it seemed like an accident but when the second one hit he said "What's the bloody world coming to?"
Felt a bit strange - but definitely not concerned - when I caught a flight to Perth on the Friday morning and luckily I'd booked on Qantas (their flights were solidly booked and very few Ansett bookings were lucky enough to get a spot that day) because that was the morning Ansett collapsed and it was the strangest time at an airport I've ever experienced.

9/11 - Mr Scorps (demonseye) was watching Bruce on talking footy when he came and got me out of bed to watch the breaking news after the first plane - we then sat there and watched as the 2nd plane hit. Must say was not that worldly so didn't really grasp the magnitude of it at that stage.
Bali - no idea.
Princess Di - at mums pregnant with mini demonseye and listening to the radio - they said she had a broken arm or something - then they said she'd died. Never forget the funeral cried and cried being an emotional hormonal wreck!
Michael Hutchence - Had just given birth to mini demonseye a couple days before and was in hospital still, waiting for demonseye to come in to visit - he had 'wet the baby's head' for a number of days beforehand.....
