Not sure if it's the same for rego but I believe that for speeding fines if a vehicle is owned by the government then a larger than usual fine is sent to the government to pay. If they nominate the driver then the government fine is withdrawn and the driver is fined the usual amount. A friend was involved in one of these a few years back and if I recall correctly that was the situation.

Not sure if it's the same for vehicles owned by private companies.

ZC I reckon it's an offence to have an unregistered car anywhere other than on private property - I believe it is illegal for it to even be parked on the side of the road without rego.

So I suppose the onus is on the owner to get an unregistered vehicle onto their land and to make sure it stays there until it is registered again.


Back in the old days, if your vehicle was un-registered/insured for an extended period,

you had to have your vehicle up on jacks with the wheels off.
