Electricity supplier

Postby Mythical Creature » Wed Jul 13, 2011 12:18 pm

Starting to do some research as to electricity suppliers and which one I should join. Currently with AGL but apparently there are better options than this and if they are going to save me some money then I am happy to join. My boss' family has Aurora Pay as you go and they think doing it that way has saved them about $50 bucks per quarter. I always get offers from other companies offering me all sorts but I always tell them to piss off unless they can send me their offer in writing (funnily enough its always against company policy to do this  ).

Anyway, where is a good place to start doing proper research? Is there a website where I can whack in my current usuage details and then from there it will list all providers and what they would charge me to compare them all at once or do I have to individually price each company?

Cheers for any help! :D
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

we use aurora and save on average around $80 per quarter from what we were paying with AGL at our old place. The only reason we have it is because it was already connected. Can't complain at all.

Does Aurora still offer Pay as You Go? Would seriously look at getting it if it's still around.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

I'm having the kids bikes hooked up to a generator and making them cycle for at least 5 hours per day each (more on weekends and school holidays).

I work in the industry but will remain impartial in this.

SA pricing is fixed by the govt, so basically it is what discount each individual company has to offer you, and it is best to contact the company direct. All companies that have nothing to hide will happily send you a written quote and if it is the Door to Door salesman that aren't leaving written quotes it would be because a) they don't have access to your exact meter type (although there is only peak or peak/off peak for residential SA at the moment) or b) they are dodgy and have told you a bunch of porky pies!

Internet sites that claim to find you the best deal often have clauses in the fine print stating that they may receive incentives for favourable reviews so be mindful of this.

Aurora Pay as you Go is good in the fact you can't spend more than you want but when connecting be sure to ask their c/kwh rate and compare that to your standard charges from my experience speaking to customers Aurora's rate is higher.

That's what Neil Craig does. The Crows winning ratio has gone down in direct correlation to their electricity bills, so it's not all bad.
