Guys,

I'm not going to pretend I'm fat - but I do need to lose weight for footy.

Have been 87 last two years. Got to 90 over Christmas and have slipped back to 87 based on fluid loss and a bit of fitness work.

Am quitting the drink (at this point). However, I'll have to make a BIG BIG exclusion for Big Day Out - that's always a huge two days on it.

Looking to get down to 82 kilograms (haven't been that low since 2002/2003 which was my peak at Loxton in A grade footy). Which with the level of exercise I've been doing, plus pre-season starting soon I should be able to do.

But....the problem is keeping it off!!! So here goes.

A tip too - if you get bored of water and you feel you're missing fizzy drinks put some soda water in the fridge.
Sounds bland, but once you get used to it it's great. I drink lots of it.
And if absolutely have to have some flavouring add some lemon or lime juice.

For most of us - avoiding the food's generally not the problem - it's the grog and cokes so the soda water's a great alternative.

Good luck guys.

Keep up the weight loss effort guys!

Dogwatcher, the soda water is a great tip even if you are going to have a drink. I was able to limit my weight gain over christmas to nothing by drinking scotch & soda, bourbon & soda etc. instead of scotch & coke, scotch & dry or beer. I normally would chuck on about 3 to 4 kg's due to the increased amount of alcohol and food consumed at endless christmas shows/bbq's/get togethers etc. I found I even felt better too the next day because I hadn't consumed 1.5 to 2 Litres of coke the night before

Army - I generally drink gin with my soda....so yeah it is possible to drink and lose weight.

But I'm off the booze for another reason too so I didn't add that tip.
